What is hammam side?

Hammam Side is a Turkish Bath located in Side, a picturesque town in the Antalya province of Turkey. It is a popular attraction for tourists who seek relaxation in a cultural setting. The traditional Turkish bath is named after its signature architectural feature, the domed heating chambers, characterized by marble floors and a central heated stone platform called göbek taşı.

Once inside the Hammam, guests are greeted by attendants who provide them with towels and traditional Ottoman robe. After changing, they are taken to the chamber room where they lie on the central heated stone platform and relax in the steamy humid atmosphere. The attendants then, using a kese (a coarse mitt made from horsehair), scrub the guest's body, removing dead skin cells and impurities, preparing them for the next step, the soaping process.

The next phase involves the attendant lathering the guest's body with a special soap and rinsing them with warm water. The soap used is typically pressurised bubbles from a special soap bag, called fasıl. Guests are then given a refreshing shower, and the attendants massage them with aromatic oils, aiding in relaxation.

Hammam Side serves as an opportunity to experience the local culture and traditions, with its unique ambience and authentic services. It's also an excellent way to relieve stress, detoxify, and rejuvenate, leaving the guests feeling refreshed and revitalized.
